On a Mac, you have several options for installing software that allows you to run Windows and Windows applications:
- Run Windows and Windows applications locally:
- To dual-boot between macOS and Windows, use Apple's Boot Camp. This approach provides the most compatibility with Windows software and peripherals, but does not allow you to run Windows and macOS applications at the same time.
- To run Windows in a virtual machine within macOS, use Parallels Desktop, VMware Fusion, or VirtualBox. This method will allow you to run Mac and Windows applications concurrently, though the virtual machine does not support as much Windows functionality as a dual-boot configuration.
- To run Windows programs without having to install Windows itself, use a Windows compatibility layer, such as CrossOver Mac. This option typically offers good functionality for a limited set of Windows applications.
- IUanyWareIUanyWare is a client virtualization (CV)service available to Indiana University students, faculty, andstaff. With IUanyWare, you can use a web browser or mobile app to runcertain IU-licensed software applications without having to installthem on your computer or mobile device.See Set up and use IUanyWare.
An Android App running on BlueStacks 2 on a Mac A Better Idea – Just Buy A Cheap Android Tablet. If you really want to run Android apps, ignore all of my advice and instruction here and just buy an Android tablet, many of which are inexpensive. You can try out those few apps that might not be available for iOS and get it out of your system. Developers can recompile their existing Intel apps for ARM, but you can run exactly the same Mac apps you run on macOS Catalina today on a new ARM-based Mac. This is made possible by Rosetta 2—an updated version of the dynamic binary translator used to transition Mac owners from PowerPC to Intel in 2006. Like for creating GUI based application on.net core you have to write code manually for everything. Like in older version of VS we just drag and drop the things and magic happens. But in VS latest version for mac every code has to be written manually. However you can make web application and console application easily on VS for mac. This means that you can actually run Windows on a Mac, which also means you can run Microsoft Office for Windows on a Mac. You will need a third-party application, such as Parallels, to run Windows on a Mac. You must also buy another license for Windows to run on a Mac, even if you already have it for PC.
All Mac® users know about the Mac App Store®, and most have probably used it to get an app or two. If you’re also a Parallels Desktop® for Mac user, there’s another store you should check out: the Microsoft Store.
The Microsoft Store is accessible from Windows 8 or 10—but in all practical terms, this means onlvidy Windows 10, since Windows 8 is used so rarely these days.
The Microsoft Store is for all things to play or consume on Windows 10: movies, music, apps, books, fonts, extensions to the Edge browser, and even hardware. In Apple® terms, it’s iTunes®, the Mac App Store, iBooks®, and the Apple Store® all rolled into one. However, in this blog post, I will focus mainly on apps available from the Microsoft Store.
Accessing the Store
Just as Apple has the App Store app, Microsoft has the Microsoft Store app. (See Figure 1.)
Here are some apps I have downloaded from the Microsoft Store, none of which are available on the Mac App Store:

All of these apps run fine for me on my MacBook Pro® in a Windows 10 VM using Parallels Desktop 14—with the single exception of Age of Empires: Definitive Edition. I used every setting I know to get this app to run with acceptable performance, but in the end, I gave up. (Age of Empires is my favorite game of all time, as I posted back in 2014.)
You can predict whether an app in the Microsoft Store will run in Parallels Desktop by looking at its system requirements from within your virtual machine. (See Figure 2.)
Figures 3–5 show some other apps from the Microsoft Store running in Parallels Desktop on my MacBook Pro.

As of today, there are about 800,000 Windows 10 apps in the Microsoft Store, as opposed to only about 11,000 in the Mac App Store. There are a number of excellent apps in both stores, and the Mac user with Parallels Desktop can take advantage of both to find the perfect app for your needs.
